The Elements and Principles work together in a way, and used together in the correct way can really define the photo. Each of the elements and the principles kind of correlate to each other, and the different categories can fit together in different ways. Putting a photo in just one category is really hard because sometimes the photos fit in multiple categories and picking just one isn't easy.

Some of the genres of photographs are Art, Photography and War, Digital Truth, Presidential Image Making, Persuasion, Social Change, and Cultural Identity. Art includes new and old forms of art. Photography and war includes images revolving around life and death. Digital truth includes all the truth in the visual world. Presidential image making involves the political side of the world. Persuasion would include marketing and advertising. Social change involves photographing something and convincing people to change something problematic. Cultural identity involves the specific people in the photos and who they are. I took the photo above during the summer, and it is in the category Art. It could be in a more specific category, though, such as scenic art.
One of my favorite things is to play softball, and this is a picture that I took during a state tournament that I played in. When I took the picture, I made sure that everything was centered and it wasn't shaky. I took this picture with my iPhone 5c. |
